Excellent final point, Ms. Haywood! Most people do desire the same things in life. They are just limited in their abilities to achieve them.

What can straight black people do to ally better with the gay black community to make them feel more supported?

01:11:14
With the privation of prisons, mass incarceration of minorities is profitable; 3strikes/ crack vs powder cocaine sentencing.

it was very interesting to hear most of all of the things that Mr. Jared spoke about with dealing with Mr. Rustin it was shocking because all that I have learned about MLK throughout school I never knew one of his right hand men were gay and it was publicly known.

01:12:02
That's a great question, Takia. As a Pastor's wife and educator, I try to be very careful with how I address individuals and to treat them like I would want to be treated. Agape love is so essential here.

01:12:18
I have never heard of "12 Anger Men" or Bayard Rustin but these ae both two things that I will be researching

REPRESENTATION MATTERS Bring these leaders to the forefront. Give them all recognition for their work. Give credit where credit is due

Please note while blacks are the majority of minorities currently, we must emphasize the definition of minority includes so many other groups.

I commend you on your journey Mr. Sampson. I've sort of walked in your shoes, but much earlier than you (Alfreda knows my actual age) I was fortunate enough to have found my niche in the Gay Community, but it was not exactly one I would suggest for young African-American Gay men. I was a serious party boy and not much interested in Social Justice. I have found even as I get into middle age, is that I've had to straddle a fine line. African-Americans gays have become more open politically and with that I have also become a bit more politically and it's become more difficult to get my voice heard. How do you mange to do it?
Alicia Aucoin
01:17:46
As someone who has openly gay family members, I hope one day everyone feels the support and love from their family. Mr. Jared thank you for bringing on light on this sensitive and important topic.

This was amazing thank you so much for taking the time to help educate us on this. I just wanted to point out that all of the BLM protest, I attended in NOLA this year was organized mainly, or in some part by members of our LGTBQ community. I love that about our city. Again thank you. As the mother of a beautiful black daughter and a proud gay daughter I loved this.
